And I want to know if I should save up and buy another one, or put some new pickups in the one I already have. I like my LP, but its just not heavy enough for some of what I play, but then again I want a neck pickup that can do cleans nicely. Would you recommend pick ups, or a new guitar? The pickups I have in mind are Dimarzio evolution, EMG (But i'd rather not have to do modding) X2N (I think some of u think its crap), SD invaders, or JB. the guitars im interested in are schecter C-1 Hellraiser and RR3. any comments are appreciated.

Hellraiser FTW.

EDIT: Whatever you do, DO NOT mod your Paul. It'll loose value.

Buy a Hellraiser, and keep your Paul for cleans/ rock.

Id go for an RR3. It is much heavier sounding than a stock Epi LP, and it has 2 Duncan Design Invader-style pickups. Or u could put Duncan Distortion and a '59 in your LP, which would give u heavy distortion and a nice clean sound.

+1, right on the money..

make sure you get the Hellraiser FR if you have the money!!! the good thing about the hellraiser is that they have EMG 81/85 in them, which are the best pickup combination in my point of view. and always remember, EMG > Blackouts

hellraiser dude. they are amazing. i have the non floyd version and i love it to death. i get decent cleans out of the neck pickup too, although i did switch to Seymour Duncan Blackouts. the EMG's were sweet though, these are just sweeter.

Actually they now have original Seymour Duncan JB/59 pups in them, and the LFR on mine is excellent

I don't see why you can't get a metal tone with that setup. I would play with your amp a bit.

Pick harder? Crank the amp?

Yo wassup, I'm trying to expand my musical horizons if you know what I mean, so can anybody reccomend me some cool Juggalo jazz?

you can get great.. GREAT cleans from the neck Pup on that Lester there buddy

and if you want distortion turn both Pups on and put all the tone up all the way and the bridge volume all the way up and then the neck volume to about 5

you dont need much else bro.. that amp is truely righteous for what you want, and the Lester is an amazing guitar for mostly any style (exept country.. not twangy enough) if you have the right amp

plus man, why get something that just isnt as purdy? or nice sounding? or hell, versitile?

I dunno why somebody thinks modding your guitar will make it lose value - it won't, just make sure you keep the original pickups.

A pickup swap will help, but you've picked some downright awful choices based on your requirements.

Depending on your exact tonal requirments better choices would be

Bridge/Neck
Duncan Custom/59
Duncan Distortion/Jazz
Dimarzio Steve's Special/Breed
Dimarzio Breed/Breed
Dimarzio D-Sonic/Breed

Give your guitar a few good smacks into a concrete wall. That'll give it some character, maybe that certain tone you're looking for.

EMGs : overrated.
Invaders : mushy turd.
X2N : Overpriced, but decent sound.

And yeah, don't mod your LP (if its a gibson)

RR3 is pretty hot.

Why not

The pickups are just a component, they're easily removed and also easily put back if necessary, changing them isn't going to make a blind bit of difference to the resale value. If it was an original 57 Les Paul then you probably wouldn't want to go changing them but for a new one it really doesn't matter at all.

i just boght a hellraiser, its amazing. not only can this guitar REALLY crank it out. but its absolutely beautiful. the flamed maple top on mine is unbelievable. If you are worried about clean tones i can tell you know thats not as much of an issue. my guitar performs great with any sound, even tho its a metal oriented axe.
