I'm gonna build a guitar, and I need a body's worth of mahogany, a neck-through's worth of maple, and some thin strips of ebony/rosewood to run through the body. I wanna get all these pieces from one place, but I'm having a hard time. I'm in Chicago, if that makes a difference.

Sorry about the title, I just couldn't resist.

Their site makes it impossible to buy what I want.

I don't see any neck blanks on their site, and no mahogany body blanks.

seriously guys, of all the posts so far, only two have even tried to help...

I got the wood for my build from a local woodworking place (I'm not in the chicago area, but it'd be worth a try to grab the yellow pages and start making some calls). As far as online, www.exoticwoods.com has mahogany (link), as well as maple neck blanks (link). they also have ebony and rosewood. Although most of their prices are pretty steep (judging by the price there compared to the wood I bought for my build), so I'd say that a local woodworking place would be the best way to go.

The title of the thread didn't help my situation any.

That's what I thought I might have to do.

Thanks

well, i saw someone selling hardwood on ebay?

Also, you could look in ad papers, (over here we have scot-ads) for knackered old pianos that are" free to uplift" i've heard of poeple taking apart old pianos for guitar building.

Yeah, exotic woods is good, but ask at your local home depot or lowe's if there are any good hardwood lumberyards in town. You can get much better wood by picking it out by hand- I got a piece of lightly-flamed maple big enough for two neck blanks for $8.

That's pretty good. I might have to do that.
