yeah attenuators are pretty cool... they let you run your amp as hard as you want and still play at the volume level you need. can be hard on the amp though.

Yes, I realize their purpose and drawbacks, but I just needed to know if this was the correct item.

Yes, it's for an amp, however a general rule is to get an attenuator that has wattage AT LEAST as much as your head. More is even better. So unless you have 25W or less head, you would not be able to use that. You also need to match up the Ohms of your cabinet with the attenuator.
