Hooked up my spider valve 212 through my Mac last night to test the direct out..

But there is alot of hum on the clean channels regardless on what position the ground/lift switch is in.. any help?

couldnt get the toneport to work so i used line in on my imac's stock card, the cables are yorkville sound

Never had a problem with my spider 2, line in distortion wasn't the best but clean was fine with my BC rich bich.

Well that is because you are plugging straight in to the line in jack - no matter what you do it will be almost impossible to get a hight quality signal.
