yeah since the scale is longer, thicker guage strings don't necessarily need to be used for standard tuning, so .009-.011's are what are most common that I've heard. It's all personal preferance though.

related question, is it easier to adjust to small gauge strings or higher? i went from 9's to 11's then i think ill back to 9's or 10's next.

Depends, moving from 9's to 10's won't cause any problems (normally) but bigger jumps may mean a "re-Setup" for your guitar.

Most are set up with 9's, but they feel too thin to me.
I like 10's
And if i had a LP, i think i'd go for 11's.
