ok this might be the wrong thread but i dont care. i've been practicing sweep picking for about a month and a half now. does anybody have a method or lesson they find useful? i'm self taught, in case it matters.

Unless, as is often the case, it's the first idea they get when they start soloing. Could be either.

well i'm just used to playing regular rock, some metal. i do agree that most metal players use it when they have nothing better to do. i just wanted a new tecnique to learn and get good at.

It's fun and not many people know how to do it or what it is. They just see your fingers flying and hear cool arpeggios coming from it.
