why would you pollute a dual rectifier with a metal zone?

Ditto. I have a rectifier and the only 'effect' I use is a rack equalizer and it sounds so br00tal. unfortunately this little info doesn't help to get the thrash sound.

My advice is keep saving your money. You will buy equipment and end up upgrading it anyways. Be patient and buy the best so you don't waste your money on mediocre equipment
Homemade Strat
ESP EC1000

I own a Boss Metal Zone and it is not worth all the hype. Sure it does give you a decent sound, but it's too harsh and my built in distortion on my amp is way better. I'd advise not falling to the temptation of that pedal whatever you do.
Do you use a BR-600?
If so, click here to join the group thats made for you!

+1, but I don't remember any hype about it. I just know that the Metal Muff is what gets all the rave reviews around here.

What equipment do you have? Are you looking to upgrade?
What's your budget if so?

Uber Metal Pedal is Pantera in a box.. Just use the pulerize setting... A cheap Kill em all pedal is the Boss DS1 but its gonna be lacking in bottom end. These are just cheap toys to get you by until you can get the amps like listed above...

I wouldn't. I was just giving a CHEAPER idea. If you're looking for a cheap pedal worth the cash, go with an ME-50.

New amp would be nice, but until you can afford a decent one, just try:

Gain: about 7
Bass: 3-4
Mids: 6-8
Treble:6-7

For pantera, scoop the mids out so you have something like
Gain: 8-10
Bass: 6-8
Mids: Under 4
Treble: 6-10

just fool about with it while you're saving.

Yeah- our school has a Line 6 spider III 30 watt and that's about the best sound I can get out of it- the insane channel is just...fizzy and crap.
