Price aside, which is a better guitar? they are both around 500 and i dont know which to choose.

Well soapbars are basically single coils so they probably wouldn't handle metal too well.

id recommend the SE custom. soapbars arent great for handling distortion

^ You kidding me. I tried one at the store and it had such a lush distortion I loved it.

wshnationals is a moron who is full of ****. P90s ARE great for distortion, that's one of the key features and reasons why some people are drawn to them, driving it through a hot tube amp and just cranking up the volume ever so slightly, just lovely.

Most P90s of course can't handle metal however that's because most aren't made for metal in the first place. A quick swap with either some Bare Knuckles or Duncans that are capable of playing metal however will easily fix that.

If you want to play metal as well then get the custom, however if you don't mind swapping out pups the Soapbar would be a fine buy too.
