an esp-ltd viper 100fm to be exact. everythings good except one minor problem. the strings are really low, which is good, except when i try to play a note on the first fret of any string, it rattles pretty bad, epecially on the b string. is this normal for guitars with low strings, or should i raise them a bit?

raise them to your liking. also, make sure you are fretting close to the fret.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
