I used a 7 string strung 11-80 for F# standard. Plenty of tension, the action was pretty high though.

The Zakk Wylde set of strings should do the job very well.

yeah but if you tuned a set of 9s or 10s to drop G, there strings would be really loose. heavier strings = more tension

Drop every string 9 semitones.

low to high GCFA#DG

He said DROP G, not G standard.

after thinking about it, it would actually be easier to tune a bass guitar up to said tuning than a standard guitar down...

stick with drop C dude. f'real.

...wh the hell he would want to do that, NO IDEA.

Christ, just play a bass guitar already

Dude, I know sometimes is really seems that

low tuning=heavier music=awesome

but really this is just a terrible idea, drop C is the lowest you ever need to go

I tuned my Bass to F standard once, it sounded absolutely terrible.

And to the guy who got pissed because he said "drop D" and not "D standard" from what's been written i believe that from what's been written and the guy actually ASKING what the notes would be that he means D Standard read before you bitch about someone being wrong ok?

doesn't Ion dissonance play in either drop A or G??? i heard that from my guitarist.

EDIT: i play in drop A with semi-light gauges, so get heavy's and you'll be fine.

Actually, B is the lowest you ever need to go. I play on a 7 string tuned BEADGBE, and it covers all my needs. Anyways, yeah, C is pretty cool. Open C tuning is made of win.
