Hey guys,

I have an RG3270 loaded with paf pros which are the factory pickups. Im loving the necks tone but the bridge sounds weak and thin in comparison so im looking to replace the paf pro in the bridge for somthing with more lower end oomph for lead and rhythem work. I mainly play instrumental stuff ala Via and Satch along with a bit of 80s metal and prog stuff like Dream Theater. Im looking at relativly a relativly high output pickup but not somthing that would be well out of whack with the Paf in the neck

Iv been looking at 3 possible candidates from Dimarzio, the Evo, Breed and Tone Zone as good matches. Iv also spoken to the guys at Bare Knuckle and they are suggesting their Geof Whitehorn "Crawler"sig pickups.

Im just wondering if anyone has has experience of any of the combinations of the above pickups with a Paf Pro in the neck? Or indeed any other recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Pete.

I have a rg1570 with a paf pro in neck and tone zone in bridge.

Yes I agree, the Paf Pro in the neck is beautiful and I regularly get comments on it.

The Tone zone is a great pickup but I would also check out a steves special. Its what Petrucci was using back in his ibanez days. I prefer my Tone zone over my friends X2N and his Evo, but i've only been using the TZ for rhythms.

After spending some time on the Dimarzio site reading up and listening im leaning on the Breed and possibly the Air Zone. The breed is also extra attractive since Thomann do some very good prices for the breed.
