Has anyone ever done this? I have a cheapie jackson JS20 that has a shiny black finish that I hate looking at because it gets finger prints all over it so easily. Should I just get some fine grit sandpaper and have at it?

im not sure if thats the way to do it because it might end up with scratches i was thinking of doing the same with my guitar but was considering just spraying it with a few coats of matt/satin finish varnish

or maybe it would be best to sand the gloss down till its nice and matted then spraying it with a matte finish...

sand it then add a satin clear lacquer. That's what I waould do to my LP if it was black in the first place.
