How to improve sustain on my friends guitar. It is a Tenson SG.

yes. this man has got it listen to darkabiter.
compressers are great i never turn mine of you can get more sustain or less if you need it.also try using feed back for more sustain. that'll keep it goin for days.

Thicker gauge strings, more volume, more gain, a compressor, vibrato, use of feedback, maybe a Fat Finger. A lot of the sustain will depend on the guitar. If it's a cheap guitar, then it won't be a very good quality wood, probably won't be mahogany (which has better sustain than alder), and won't be put together as well as a more expensive guitar.

to add to my prevous posts. if sacrificing some tone is an opption move the pickups further away from the strings.
