Sorry if this in in the wrong board however I couldn't for the life of me figure it out sorry.

I recently installed EMGs in my Ibanez S520 (only just fits) and I'm having a bit of a problem with the 85 in the neck position. I've got an 81 in the bridge and that sounds fine but whenever I use the 85 it sounds as though the bass has been boosted to 10 and the treble and mids disappears. I only really use the 85 for clean passages in songs which makes it even more awkward/noticable. I know its a higher output/bassier pickup but theres a worryingly high difference in bass between the 2 pickups.

I'm pretty sure there wired in correctly but not 100% certain. Could this be anything to do with the pickup not being wired to the tone pot correctly or does anyone have any other ideas as to why it is so bassy?

Thanks in advance.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

For me, the 85 is too bassy for my taste. I do like the 81 though.

From my post i was hoping he would realize the 85 has a lot of bass compared to the 81. Due to the 85 having a lot of bass maybe he thinks there wired incorrectly.

With the original speaker they sound alright. I put a celestion g10 in the ad30vt and the emgs sound better.
