What do ya guys think of it? Would you ever have it? If you're skinny, and were a fatty, would you have it? Is it worth the risks? Would your opinion of a person who had it be different? Thoughts!!

It's the lazy ass way of losing weight for someone who can't be bothered. Unless someone needed it for an immediate health problem which rendered them unable to exercise, then I suppose there's no choice but to accept it, but I don't have that much respect for someone who does it because they can't be bothered to work for the figure they want.
The will to neither strive nor cry,
The power to feel with others give.
Calm, calm me more; nor let me die
Before I have begun to live.

The only people who deserve these are people who get recommended by a psychologist. If you're weight problem isn't a problem directed from a severe problem mentally, then you don't deserve one because you're down right lazy.

once you get to a certain size though your metabolism bassically stops so this is some peoples only chance servres them right for getting that way in the first place really

dinkydaisy, no its not for lazy people. its for those people cant lose weight no matter how hard they try. my sister had it done. she was overweight for years and tried all types of diets and exercise routines but nothing worked, she even went to dieticians and specialists. surgery was not her first option and its not for most people that get it. its a risky surgery, and my sister almost died from it. people dont just get it because they dont feel like exercising. i would get your facts straight.

I feel the same, sort of. I mean, if you have horrible eating habits, and aren't getting the right nutrition with a jumbo stomach, then just cutting it in half won't change the fact that you love the McJumbo Death burger. You just physically won't be able to eat all of it, but you'll still try. Old habits die hard. I do support it for those with physical ailments. My friend had 3-4 spinal surgeries, could barely walk, they never helped. She lost 250 pounds with the surgery, and is amazing now. Woot.

It doesn't really matter to me. If someone has the money for it and chooses to accept the risks and do it, then it's really none of my business. I probably wouldn't do it (lost about 12lbs so far after I started my diet + cycling about 3 weeks ago) because I'm choosing to lose weight the healthy way by making a lifestyle change instead of just a quick-fix.

I wouldn't.

For a start, I can't apply for one. I can't apply for liposuction either.

And secondly- doesn't it seem a bit like cheating?

If you want to get my facts straight, feel free.

Read my post again. I know some people need it because there's something prohibiting weight-loss through conventional methods, such as Prader-Willi syndrome rendering it difficult to diet. THat's the only example I can think of, I'm not claiming to be an expert. Don't be so condescending.

my friend had some medical problem, and he told me he had less intestines than other people and that he can't get fat now, i guess that means he had one?
people can do whatever they want, although if they did it right they'd get more respect.

Honesty, she was probably cheating.

Unless you have a genuine genetic abnormality which causes you not to produce or respond to leptin or similar there is absolutely no reason why a low calorie/fat/carbs diet coupled with regular exercise can't lose a person weight.

I refuse to believe that she strictly followed those diets and didn't manage to lose weight.
