A pop-punk band. Maybe add some ska, or something. I don't know the exact details, I just know I want to do this. But do people still like pop-punk? I know I do. Anyone have any rules I need to follow or tips or what not?

And would it be a bad idea to name our band after a Blink 182 song? I mean, I know they're not "punk", but I still like them, and I think it'd be a good band name.

But that's just me...

if you hesitate about whether other people will like it or not you have already lost
do it just because you want to! **** everyone else!

and you'll get more respect if you don't name yourself after a previous pop punk song

TBH, pop punk bands around are young, E.g. You Me At Six, All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, and the songs can easily compare to the listeners as theyre virtually same ages as the band and the band probably recently went through what the song is about, and so has the crowd, probably.

So do it if your young which im pretty sure you are, and write about easily comparable situtaions in songs.

Do it.

And name your band Shintysix, after the popular phrase "I only have shintysix days left to live" *too much Numberwang, ignore me*

But yeah, just go ****ing fast and be happy, and you're sorted
FUCK YOU! GET PUMPED!

Sure. Do it. But don't limit yourself to just pop-punk and ska. And record some stuff as soon as you can and post it on UG.

I really wanna start a band and play a hard rock version of my song "cat nip".

Then people will believe that it's the best song ever written, which it is.

I want to start a emo(real emo) band for some reason.
I'm the same as I was when I was six years old
And oh my god I feel so damn old
I don't really feel anything

Get a Sythesizer and a Drum Machine.

Then you can be your own band and you don't have to deal with uncommited asswads.

That said;

if I had a band we would just be The Replacements.

And they already exist.

I would start that band with you.

We could be like I Hate Myself and Sunny Day Real Estate

^Yeah, it would be kickass, but you have to live in Canada.

I want to do one or more covers of these songs:

New Order- Bizarre Love Triangle
Eddie Money- Take Me Home Tonight
Belinda Carlisle- Heaven is a Place On Earth

Which one would be the most fitting and cool?

If I started a band it would be like ska-core but without the songs about squatting or crack cocaine.

Also we would cover MDC songs because I don't believe I've seen enough people cover MDC in my lifetime.
