Well I own a Machine Head The Blackening t-shirt and an Opeth T-shirt.

Both awesome.

But is it lame? It's kind of like "showing off" if you get me.

If it is... then my entire wardrobe needs to be redone.

Nope. At least... I should hope not.
Too many people own guitars. Someone had better go play a... clarinet or something.

:stickpoke

That means you.

I don't have any, because I think wearing them makes you seem like your showing off.

That statement is aimed more towards "metalheads."

Support bands that you love. Wearing their t-shirt is the best way to get people hearing about them and interested.

I agree. Can't stand all those douches with Motörhead shirts either. Merchandise is a way to support your favorite artist, not to show off.

I wear some. I have some old kinda embarrasing ones, wich I don't really like anymore, wich is a damn waste, so I wear them if there's nothing else. I can't see how it's showing off, no one thinks I'm more cool if I do it (I can't get anymore cool, but you get the point)
First of all no one knows anything, people barely know who Jimi Hendrix is. We had something about him in english and only two people (including me) knew he was black.

Whenever I go out I wear a band shirt, I only have three but they are my prefered choice of clothing, I couldn't care less if people don't like who's on the shirt.
#33
i know what you mean.

but its supporting the band and getting there name out there to the public.

I feel naked if I'm not wearing a band shirt. Anyone else? It's like I get the urge to say to everyone, "Attention! I usually wear band shirts! I am metal! That is all."

How is that lame?
If its a band I like, I have no problem at all advertising for them, as well as paying for the shirt.

i wear band shirts constantly, but most of them are unknown bands that only i like, for example last year at school i was wearing a millencolin shirt (swedish punk band) and it was for their album "pennybridge pioneers" and some girl thought it was a school shirt.....

but most of the time my band shirts are ones wil cool designs that are also from bands i like. that way i dont just have black t shirts with some punk band on it.

Generally i buy band shirt if i really like whats on it i.e. the art or logo, i'd say thats better that having ADDIDAS in freaking huge letters for no reason?
