the allen wrenches that came with my guitar arnt correct. so all the times i ajusted my truss rode it was just stripping it out (not completly). cuz its about 3 16ths smaller then what it should be. im about to go to auto zone and see if i can find anything to fit it snug. id just like to know my options. i know tools i can use to get it out. but, iv heard my neck will snap if i take out the truss rode. if thats the case i can just clamp it down gently of corse. ? but getting the other one in might strip out the nut at the bottem? enough of my foolish talk. i just wanna know what my options are from some pros.

Your neck will snap if you take the truss rod out while the neck is under tension, not if it's unstrung and it's separate from the body.

Fix'd:

The Allen wrenches that came with my guitar are not correct. Consequently, all the times I adjusted my truss rod, the smaller Allen key was stripping the socket. I would like to know my options; I know of tools I can use to remove it, but I have heard that the neck will snap if I completely remove the truss rod. In that case, can I simply clamp the neck gently? Thank you.
Sincerely, Chad.
