The TS didn't even ask about the rake symbol. He even said that the middle string is muted, so he knows what it is. He asked about what you call that chord. It's an octave interval

the x (when tabbed like that) means just not let it sound, the chuck sound is when it's over more than one string.
Honestly. Wtf?

yeah, I made a post along the lines of "The x is a muted string." and then I realized I probably should have read more than just the tab and deleted my post. Haha.

No he's not, moron. Read the post before attacking other people.
Someones knowledge of guitar companies spelling determines what amps you can own. Really smart people can own things like Framus because they sound like they might be spelled with a "y" but they aren't.

Ok, first off yes Albinokriket shouldn't have been so harsh, but he did apologize for it at the end of his post, so no need for everyone to attack him. Let's just discuss the problem at hand, ok?

Now, as many people have already said that is known as an octave interval, or more simply an octave, because the higher note is one octave up from the root note.

Now, bit of music theory here: a power-chord is simply a root, fifth and octave. So in tab, it looks like this:

E|---|
B|---|
G|-9-|
D|-9-|
A|-7-|
E|---|

So, the first note, the 7 on the A, is an E, the root note. The 9 on the D is a B, the fifth note. The 9 on the G is an E, but up an octave from the root note. Hey presto, a power-chord. Now, if you take out your fifth, you are simply left with two of the same note, just an octave apart. Hence, an octave. There you go, you just learnt something new.

If he was sorry by the end of his post, he would have removed the attack. It's like introducing yourself to a black man by saying "Hi, I'm from a superior race you dirty n****r...sorry"

Sorry doesn't mean much.

At least it wasn't the threadstarter attacking me for helping them this time. But still, I'm reporting albinokrikit
