there is this silver shielding foil on the backside of the coverings on the back of the guitar, what is it usually made of? I am planning to build the coverings of my guitar from aluminium, does this work? and do i still need shielding then?

use foil tape its a lot easier than taping regular foil down and you could probably find it at any hardware store

I actually had no problem using contact cement and taking a sheet of aluminum foil and pressing it down to get into the corners. It's a lot easier then some people make it out to be.
