Does anyone know of an audio recorder that I could take out to record everyday, ambient noises, eg. street/traffic sounds, talking etc. ?

It needs to be durable, have a good battery life and, of course, decent sound quality.

It's for a concept album I have planned.

Thanks,
J.

The Boss Micro BR. I've recently (3 weeks ago) acquired one and the sound is amazing, the battery life is pretty good (around 2-10 hrs, depends on the recording settings) and it comes with a memory stick. It's overall, EXTREMELY AMAZING!

EDIT: It has a built in mic too :P

The older Zoom with XLR leads is great, ive heard of some problems with the new Zoom and I prefer having the XLR inputs for good mics...

I would say stay away from the micro BR, its made more to record guitar than anything else...

as for other types of recorders theres the Frostex MTRs.
