which pro tools is better the mpowered or the le version?
also for mpowered pro tools what is the best choice as to an audio interface. i have used the firewire 410 and it crashed the computer what is my best choice?

From what I've seen of MPowered, Protools LE is better because it has higher limitations (a few extra tracks I think and comes with more plugins) and has better support.

LE is better all round but it's much more expensive to have the same amount of simultaneous inputs.

le and m powered as far as the software are exactly the same.

m powered doesnt support the DV toolkit 2 i believe

if you get a mbox you get le and the ignition pack that comes with it.
and the factory version will add some plugins aswell.

but other than no support for the DV toolkit they are EXACTLY THE SAME.

the both support the music production toolkit too.

i would go with m powered because of a interface choice.
and the extras from the ignition pack aren't really that great.
and the factory version plugins can be found on ebay pretty cheap.

the firewire 410 is exceptionally good.
i like it better than my old mbox 2 pro
M audio is a wonderful company.

having used both for my home studio id have to say
m powered is the way to go. the mbox was way too much trouble to work with.
and the preamps in the mbox to my ear, were horrid.
plus you get a ilok with mpowered.
which is pretty nice to have for trying out demo plugins and such. as well as not having to go buy one when you want to by strike or hybird from the digidesign Advanced instrument research.(AIR)

mpowered is sort of a limited version of LE made just for m-audio.

Oh cool, they have the same content other than plugins.

I agree with you about the mbox preamps, they aren't great. They do the job, though, and I like the colouration.

I've seen a few of the maudio interfaces, although they tend to be good or bad from model to model.

You get all the basic digidesign plugins - EQ 4.0, compressor, reverb etc with the mpowered version, right?

you get all of the digirack and free bomb factory plugins.
wich is really all you need.

LE just has a starter pack with like amplitube le(worthless) ableton live lite(decent but still pretty limited) and reason adapted(the best of the lot).

and i think you get a lite version of sample tank.

i would go with mpowered because of all the compatible hardware and a personal liking for thier interfaces.

firewire 410 with m powered...
great system.

In fact, I remember looking at some of the firewire MAudio interfaces for PT, but quickly realised I don't have firewire ports on my computer.

One of my friends had an maudio interface of some description and it was obsolutely terrible as soon as he got it.
