I need something to record myself onto the computer.. I have NO idea how recording works :[, can someone please teach me a few basic things? Like, what programs are there and what is required for recording?

A mic, a mixer, a sound card and a few adapters.

Or a DI box a sound card and a few adapters.

Software: Cubase or Pro Tools or (for free) Sound Recorder works.

audacity is free online and easy to use.

if your using a solid state amp you can just plug directly into your computers mic input.

if your using tube, your going to need to buy a mic and a small mixing board for post EQing. then mess around with mic positions.

o and adapters like 1/4'' to 1/8'' (AKA: headphone size/mini). stuff like that.

he didnt say how much money he had to spend so i suggested the free program. it works just fine especially since he hasnt even started recording, it would be a good learning experience for him to figure out what he needs out of a recording program and then ask us later or just find it on his own when he discovers those needs.

P.S.: sorry for all the "he" statements if TS is a girl -_-.
