I would steer you away from the Valveking due to the poor reliability record they have. Consider a B52 combo, or maybe a Fender Hot Rod series. Classic series don't seem to have reliability issues, but they aren't too good for metal.

is this thread some kinda joke? hahaha man seriously though valveking out of the 2 but i think a classic 30 would be better.

Definitely the VK, don't even bother with Spiders. I think a VK would suit you better than a Classic 30, even if you had an OD to go with it. If you like the sound of your FAB Metal and Overdrive, they should go nicely with the VK to give you the sound you're looking for.

I dont mean to be rude, but isnt that the complete opposite?

The B-52s are known very well for overheating and having shoddy craftmanship, with great tone mind you =)

The first year B-52s were pretty bad, but all the ones made in the past couple years are fine.

Guys, a VK or a Windsor will not get metal without an OD. At most a VK will do early Megadeth.

Funny, I was ripping out some pretty heavy riffaging with the Valveking the other day. You know it's got a gain boost on board right?

Yes. and its still makes as much gain as a JCM900, which is not "br00talz".

If your going for metal like you said, the Peavey for sure, but if you want versatility like going between Lamb of - Metallica - Van Halen - Scorpions easily in one amp get the Spider, but the spider doesn't sound as good.

i dont think you need an od to get brutal tones especially with the gain boost. but still at the same time the lead channel is really muddy so you SHOULD have an OD to make it sound tighter and more crisp. also it will be easier to get BETTER metal tones out of the vk with an OD.

Good choice in going the VK over the Line 6. Valve amps generally sound nicer than solid state amps, and the ValveKing has some killer distortion on it.
