I have a Roland Micro Cube thats been with me since i got inot guitar 2 years ago. Should i ditch that one to get a lower end Fender Frontman?
#2
NO!

Frontmans are terrible amps. Your Micro cube is better.

What genres do you play? Budget?

Long story. !

If you don't want to wait TS, I'd recommend a Vox AD30VT. Great amp! A Blackheart little giant or a Epiphone Valve Juniors with pedals would work too!

Crate Palomino series, Traynor YCV series, Fender Blues Junior...

Save your dough though.

around what budget do amps get good

It's not the budget, it's sound. You'll develop an ear for tone and you'll know what's good and what's crap.

You could get a quality valve amp for around 400 dollars.

I know! Long story. You could probably find it on page 600 and something of the Laney thread.

for jamming/small gigs... anywhere from $400-$800 usually. for more serious players, an amp worth $2000 isn't anything outrageous.

yeah, it'd be good to try some out... but beware of salesmen luring you into these amps.

Thats what its all about, if your not happy with the sound maybe try a distortion pedal, I know kurt uses a boss ds-1!

Like has been suggested, keep saving. Head to guitar center, and over time, try everything.
