i just went to guitar center today and
decided to play one
so i got a fender strat with noiseless pickups
pluged it in to the spider valve
and wow oh wow

i played two notes and was taken away

this is a real
how should i put it
"**** amp" for the money
i seriusly just played two notes and walked away
no difrrent than a regular spider
this spider valve **** aint ganna fool me
i was playing a vibrolux all day and as soon as this toneless monsters noise
hit my ears i decided at that momment
that no modelling technology no matter how advanced or sophistacated with 4,6,10 20 tubes in it will compare to the real thing
but seriously i was expecting it to be at least descent but it wasnt even that

The "Enter/Return" key is NOT your friend.

Oh, and many people on this board think that it's much better than the SS Spiders, because they actually took time to get a good tone out of it.

i dont know why people slag off the spider. when i was 13 (like a while ago!) you would have to buy a £200 amp and £150 fx pedal now you get all that to experiment with. Obviously i wouldnt trade in my carvin v3 or 5150 for it but its great for kids.

1.Dude, the spider valve is a real tube amp.
2. Did you mess with any of the settings?
If you had, you would have found that it's a great tube amp. Tone takes time my friend.

P.S. Strats suck ass with spider amps.

You played 2 whole notes and neglected to even attempt to EQ it. Yeah, nice review there, buddy. I'm no fan of Spiders, valve or not. But, honestly, come on.

And, as for your comment about modeling amps in general, I can name 2 good SS models and 1 amazing tube model.

The SS models are the Line 6(*gasp*) Vetta and Flextone. The tube model is the Hughes and Kettner Switchblade.

No joke man... I thought I had stumbled into someones poem or song lyrics thread.....

And anyways, that's pretty damn stupid to post a review of an amp after "two notes"..

Like said above, did you even attempt to EQ it? Hell, I've rolled on quite a few amps at guitar center only to find that the EQ settings were all whacked from the last person to play it...

Even good amps take time to dial in a good sound.

to expand on haha, crackhead's list:

RANDALL MTS series. the best modeling PERIOD. it's all tube modeling (if you look at it the way i do it's almost certain that it's modeling).

and yea i'm sure two notes really says a lot about a tube amp being bad. i can play 5 or 6 notes that sound like pure sh!t or hell even 20. when i stop playing my guitar, even for a few minutes, i usually gotta get warmed up doin a few licks and progressions before i start doing anything that resembles impressive!!

well i honestly dont give a **** what most people on forum say about
the spider valve
i messed around with the twang and it sounded really thin and lifeless
the other one i messed areound with was the second to last model on it
i was just exagerating on the two notes thing but those tow notes gave me all i needed to now
i just played with it for 10 or 15 minutes
and i really didnt like it because for all that money you spend on it
its still there you could hear it
the original spider
its just my opinion
i played with it didnt like it and went back to the vibrolux

baisicly im saying **** the spider valve and get a flextone
getting a spider valve is like getting a regular spider thats four times louder
