Hi All,

I am currently overhaulling a mex strat. I have replaced the pickups with Texas Specials and now I would like to replace the tremelo system.

NOTE: I DO NOT WANT A FLOYD ROSE TYPE TREM

Can any of you guys recommend something more robust and reliable ?

It needs to have a trem, and preferably floating

Kahler?

Depends on what type of Kahler trem you're looking for. Google Kahler and check out their site, see what trem unit seems best for you.

Thanks but I dont want a locking system.
I just want a replacement for the standard strat trem which is of a better build quality and more likely to keep the thing in tune.
I'll probably need one that has rollers and a locking nut.

Thanks steven seagull.

I like the look of those.
Can you tell me why I would need a rolling nut instead of a locking nut ?
My friend has a similar trem system on his guitar but he has a locking nut.
What are the advantages/disadvantages ?

A locking nut clamps the strings - great tuning stablilty but it means you can't use the headstock tuners so you need a bridge with fine tuners. One of the main tuning problems you get with a trem is due to strings sticking at the nut and then slipping suddenly, a roller nut works by minimising the friction at the nut allowing the strings to move smoothly through it.
