how many guys main axe only have 22 frets? sometimes i wonder what it would be like with 24 frets on my s series guitars or if i would actually use the last 2 frets.
#3
Well, if you bend the last fret hard enough, you'll reach the highest e. That's how the guitarist of Arch Enemy works with 22.
#4
would be handy for some songs, but im gonna be a cheap ass jackson in a few years with some EMGs
#7
i like 24 frets just because ther is more space to work with the 21st and 22nd frets
i have only 21 frets and it drives me crazy because it's extremely uncomfortable to reach that high

I have 22 frets on both my guitars. 24 frets is cool, but when you have 24 frets you have to move the neck pick up and I don't like that. Also I think that a 24 fret neck gives the right hand very little room for picking.

I don't generally use anything above about 17 or so, but I just like having the extra room there. I'm weird when it comes to some things.
#14
If I ever get famous I'm having a one and a half tone bend at the 24th fret on the high E in as many of my songs as possible just to shut up the people who say 'you don't NEED 24 frets'.

by 2010 we're going to have guitars the size of... something.
#18
I have 24 frets. I enjoy the extra notes and do miss them them when playing my Strat with 21 frets. I could probably live with 22 but prefer 24.

prove it

RR24 and the RR1

it's about the scale length.

If 2 guitars have a scale length of 25.5 inches but one has 22 frets and the other 24, the 22nd fret, bridge and nut will be in the same place on both.

The only difference you MIGHT get is the neck joining the body at a different fret. And even then the bridge will still be the same distance away from the 12th fret.

You could lose a lots of fans with this. I wouldn't play ur songs.

I have 21 frets on my strat. Sometimes i get angry if i have to do something in the 22 or 24 frets but usually i can get this ok with bending. 21 a little less if you want to play face-melting solos. I think that 22 is enough because then you imust bend up 1 tone not 1,5 as you do with 21 frets. Also 24 would be nice but i don't think thats very necessary.

i actually don´t use those 2 frets on my RG, they just make the guitar be designed to use them too, so with 24 frets is easier to reach the 22 fret

Of the 3 guitars I currently own, my favorite guitar has only 22.

I do like having 24 frets however since they allow easier access to the frets I actually use.

FWIW, when I finally undertake a custom strat, I will be using a 21 fret Warmoth neck.
