I can't get good access to high frets while standing no matter how much I adjust my strap...

when i try to reach down that far, my elbow ends up hitting the side of my body making the reach awkward.

when I sit, I usually play classical style (guitar on my left knee, raised above the other knee) and I can access all the frets easily.

any way to get that easy access while standing?

Shorten your strap a bit. AND PRACTICE

I had that trouble when I started. It's just a matter of practice. Once I got my big amp, I felt I had to always practice standing up, and now I find it just as easy as sitting.

+1

You're probably not shortening your strap enough.

Maybe it's too short then?

No such thing.

Practice is the answer if it's already short then.
