Hello, Im a noob but really interested in what kinds of overdrive/ distortion pedal to get. Im looking for the Eric Johnson kind of tone or Joe Satriani type. I already own the Boss MT-2 and that thing is trash. What kind of gear are you rolling? Which should i get?

I would reccomend these pedals:
Boss BD-2 Blues Driver
Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive
and the defacto OD pedals:
Ibanez TS-101
Ibanez TS-9

All of them have a nice OD tone.

get a Marshall JTM45, crank it, with a strat or an ES335. there we go instant EJ. now u jsut gotta play it right.

u should post a budget, and how much u want to nail the tone. if you want to nail it completely, i'll tell you it's impossible for under $1000.

Yea, but they use older models (different tone from newer ones) that have been heavily modded.

satch uses analog man DS-1s, Vai used Keeley modded DS-1 together with Keeley Modded TS9. today he has the Ibanez Jemini pedal, his signature pedal. i'm 99% it's based on the Keeley DS-1 and the Keeley TS9, and put together in one enclosure.
strat player forever.
