Pretty soon I'll be working and I'll be able to get a better/louder amp.

I've been looking at the Valveking and the Windsor.

I like the Windsor because it's supposedly a JCM800 clone, and the JCM800 is my favorite amp of all time....but I can't afford one.

I like the VK too because it would have way more versatility.

Some people are going to tell me to save more, but I can't. around 700 is my max. My family will probably **** bricks when I spend that much, let alone over 1K.

I play hard classic rock (Think AC/DC but with a little more gain) and I dabble in metal. The Muff can help me with that, so I'm focused on my Classic Rock tone with this one.

Suggestions?

How do you physically download an album? Like run your computer off a dynamo on an exercise bike?

i had a windsor half stack for a week.

i took it back because it's impossible to get a clean tone out of the thing. it's GREAT to crank and get a classic rock sound, but there's no way you're getting a clean sound from it.
and it's got no reverb.
My name is Charlie.

Gear
Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet
Fender Deville 410
Electro-Harmonix USA Big Muff
Digitech Whammy IV

Dunlop Crybaby Wah

Personally, the only Youtube vids I found of the Traynor made it sound terrible.

It sounds kind of muddy, listen!

Clean......what is this "clean" you speak of?

I hardly ever use cleans. If I ever needed to, I'd bust out the ol' Champ.

You just put up the master volume and lower the preamp volume to get a clean sound.

After watching this vid, I'm leaning toward the windsor....

If he would just turn the treble down a little, and then give it more mids.....

woah mama.....

Again, don't base anything on youtube clips. I have found some pretty decent MG clips and we all know that doesn't sound good in real life. Just go try the amps in question. I stand by the Traynor.

I voted for the Windsor, the only thing I'm not sure about is its high gain tone. Can anybody comment on this?

Paul from GW doesn't know **** about testing gear, all his reviews SUCK.
However, I have tried the Windsor and did not enjoy it at all. Its distortion at 10 is just meh, you'd need somethin to tighten it up with to get a reasonable high gain metalish type tone.

Would you say your ValveKing has better overdrive?
