I was playing with the settings on my amp the other day and as I got closer suddenly I heard a buzzing sound. When i put my pickups close to the amp head I can "hear the amp running" so to speak. Is that normal?

Also when i turn it up the speakers overdrive nicely but sometimes lower notes will make it sound like the speaker is breaking or something. Does that mean the speakers might be blown or is the bass way too high?

quick fix for the first part....stand away from the amp.
-and most likely the bass is up to high

I know that much, I just had to adjust some settings and I suddenly heard a hum. I went closer and it got louder as I got near.
