I saw a tab where it wasnt positive on the solo but it said you could solo following the chord progression. How do you do this? How do you know what the chords are up the fretboard? I dont play much lead but I want to learn ways to improve solos and create my own. So please help me out with this. Thanks

Also try working on that chord in every position on the neck. Those positioned chords will give you the framework for some leads.

I agree 100%, learn your arpeggios, this will help SO much. Much more then modes, imho.

Totally, and IMO, it's more fun to rip through arpeggios to get from place to place for fast runs than it is to repeat scale patterns over and over.
