ok i'll keep this brief... atm i've got a spider II 15 watt o.0 .Now i need a new amp since ive started doing gigs and i have to borrow other people's amps. The gigs arent that frequent but they normally have 100-200 people in the audince. I play classic rock (EVH, guns n roses) to metal (metallica, pantera, iron maiden). I have got £150 to spend on an amp, which leaves me £150 for effects pedals or multi effects.

Any help choosing which amp/ effects would be great. Oh yeah i play lead.

Thanks in advance

PS i've already got a wah pedal: Colorsound Organ swell and Wah ( got it given to me)

amp for 150pounds? why don't just spend all 300 pounds on your amp? cuz it would be much better I think...idk..

IMO for classic rock, all you need is an overdriven tube amp, classic rock is a reasonably dry signal, £150 wont get you gigging levels easily, £300 can get you a decent tube amp.

If your willing to spend all on an amp, and willing to go used, Laney LC30 will completely blow you away, it sounds great, especially good for blues/classic rock tones.

HakEdit:

On GAK (guitar and keyboard) the VC30 1/12 goes for under £300 http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/vc30-112/380

Vox AD30VT. Great amp and it should cost you about £130 new.
£150 if you want the stomp box with it.

Don't buy it from a local music store! I went in and they were selling it for £170, which is a rip.

The amp is great. It is a valve amp so you get rich, warm tone from it. It also come with some inbuilt effects - which are pretty decent.
I have this amp and it is one of the best ones i have played on!

[EDIT]
Hmm. Just noticed you want an amp for gigging. Try a higher watt Vox, like the AD50VT. All the amps in that series are great!

Hope i have helped, good luck finding an amp!

Spend £300 on an amp instead, £150 will get you dick-all. Even with £300 you're at the absolute bottom of the budget for a giggable amp.

If you can stretch your budget then a Laney LC30 is probably your best bet.

Failing that a Peavey Valveking should do a decent job for you

I'd try them both and see which you prefer.

600$ might get you a valve king and an OD or maybe a Windsor Studio

Bad monkey OD
The Windsor and Bad Monkey come out to just under 300 pounds. Might be your best bet

aaahh right ok, is 30 watts enough (Laney LC 30) ??? I know its tube but im not sure how to compare it with solid states. Will it be as loud as my friends 60 watt rowland cube?

Louder, by alot.

30 watts tube and you can gig anywhere pretty much, especially with a PA.

I still recomend the Laney VC30 (LC30 maybe) over the valveking, both are much better amps IMO.

oh ok thanks everyone... i'll probably get one of the Laney amps once i try them out. I might be able to squeeze a bit more money out. Oh yeah TS-9, Bad monkey or Zakk wylde distortion???

And does anyone know how my Colorsound pedal compares to other wahs??? it looks pretty vintage and was made in london.

I havnt tried the ZW dist, but judging from the name its a distortion pedal, so meh.

Out of the BM and the TS9, the TS9 IMO sounds better, but for the price the BM is a great pedal, if you can wait it out and save or stretch budget to include the TS9 then go for it, but the BM is still a great pedal for the price.
