Wasn't sure if this was the right forum but, whatever.

I've been playing for 6 months, I learned quite a bit of scales, I can read music, I can tap...Fairly well, I am horrible at solos that dont involve tapping, and for the most part I can play some pretty hard songs...like 3 or so, but I know tons of riffs. I've also made 2 of my own songs.

I need to build up some speed, and I need suggestions where to go from here.

Thanks.

Kristopher Dahl's videos helped a lot. You can get them on ug.tv.. ITs not an overnight thing. hey, i practiced for at least 6 months to even reach a decently fast steady speed.

A sad reflection on the state of guitar playing nowadays sadly - everybody wants to do the flashy stuff but nobody can be bothered to actually learn to play the thing.

Yeah, I picked up tapping fairly quickly.

I know a few trivium tapping solos, the one tapping solo, and I can just make up some random tapping that sounds pretty tight =p

And thanks blaze

Well, you won't magically be able to play normal solos. Just get one that is regarded as easy (Smells like teen spirit even) and slowly break it down. Play it as slow as you need to, so that it is perfect. As muscle memory builds up, play it a little faster. Then get it perfect at the new tempo. Then make it a little faster again and so on until you have it up to speed.

There are no easy ways to learn to play. Just practise.
