Real Name: Chris

Age: 18

Location: Bournemouth, UK

Favourite Artists: Billy Joel, Fleetwood mac, The Eurythmics, Janis Joplin, Modest Mouse, Murder by Death, The Frames, Funkadelic, Otis Redding, The Beatles, and absolutely anything else that moves me. Many, many more.

An artist we should listen to is: The Ohio Players. Getya fucking groove on.

Most Inspirational Writer (Lyrically): That guy, from that band, who wrote that good stuff. While sober. If he can do things I can't, I respect that.

Favourite poet/poem (published writer): My favourite poem is that one by Bukowski, where he watches the women getting out of their cars in their little dresses and they do and one of them shows her panties a little bit, and he gets excited. That's my favourite one. I also like the one where a woman steals his paintings.

If you could be any writer ever, who would you be: Neal Cassady. And I'd keep a better fucking diary too. Three thirds next time, please.

Why Do You Write: I write to claw back some of the distance between me and all the people I see around me doing normal things. The ones who stick with thier jobs and have families and find love and a glass of wine, at most, with their meal on a friday night. I don't envy them. but sometimes it's hard playing the drunk - the disapproval and disgust when really this is just what I do. Writing and drinking go hand in hand as things that I can do naturally, without effort, without any sacrifice or pain or loss. I write because Jack did, and Hunter, and William and Allen and all the rest of them.

Favourite technique/style. (After the defacement of this most pertinent question by Tigger, it is now known as, Favourite technique/style to write in): Saying what is, not what it is like. Appreciating the dirt of every day life and seeing the funny side of being born, writing knowing that everyone has a right to do as they please and writing pleases me.

Favourite Writer on UG: phantom1, Randy, that guy who writes in cooky languages sometimes, Alex, Kyrl, bluesybilly, bleed away, pixiesfanyo, a lot of the people from way back before my time who impressed me with pieces I can't even remember now. I owe a lot to their help.

Most Helpful Critic: Carmel, Alex, phantom1, even THW and Randy sometimes. Honestly, I never ask for full crits any more, hell I don't even care if you dont give an opinion, I just need to know that people are reading what I write.

Your Most Recent Work and Reason behind It:

Those Few good Lines

I tend to find that when I sit down to write, I normally follow a similar pattern. I drink, write about my day, my feelings, events. Then drink more. then look to the metaphors, funny images, anything that springs into my head connected with my day or what I've just written, and jot that down. that's where all my best comes from, and where this came from. All I'd done all day was work, sit in the bar and lose money on bets with strangers, and write. But like the damn things says, I'd like to think I had fucked somebody. As well as all the rest.

Tips for Newer Writers: Don't stop. Drink and write and sleep and fuck and LIVE, get out there and do what you want to do, no matter what anyone else says about it. It's your life and don't regret it. If you want to write, then write. But poetry, not lyrics. Lyrics are for the thick kids. As is rhyming.

Any Final Comments or Thoughts: I never thought I'd be up here, but thanks everyone. Like I said, I don't care whether you have an opinion of my work. I just need to know it's being read.

Submit a photo: No thanks.

Dude Bournemouth, seriously?

I'm from Blandford, like 30/40 mins away.

Go Dorset.

Oh, and go you. Congrats.

But poetry, not lyrics. Lyrics are for the thick kids. As is rhyming.

Except that. **** that

And I'll hold you to that man, would be nice to see you. I might be in Lndontown this sunday, even, if you can get somewhere central.

edit: thanks everyone. I've been around a long time, and this means a lot.
