ok so i have found plans and templates to build a les paul guitar. they are really good i might add. my question is should i build it using the template and plans or should i do what i was going to do originally and get the parts off ebay and put it together instead of making it?

my dad has a cabinet shop full of tools i could use so it would be hard to cut stuff?

so what you guys think?

Why would you need a THIRD humbucker?

I have a Godin Freeway Floyd w/ 2 humbuckers...and a single coil. (incredibly tonal range, I love it )
If you must install another pickup, get a single coil in there - for tonal versatility .

is making guitars urself just as good as making one out of parts or buying one?

making guitars rocks! if your dad is a cabinet maker he definitely knows his way around wood... i'd suggest a "male bonding" project with you and your dad... i'm sure he can make one hell of a neck tenon...
