can you use a bass head on a guitar cab?

if not, why not?

Sure you can, try it if you want... of course just because you can doesn't mean you should, and no you shouldn't.

It depends on the frequency response and power handling of the speakers... and for sound, the dimensions shape of the cab... 99.99% of the time I'm going to say NO.

1.a bass head will have more wattage than a comparable guitar head=chance for blown speaker

2. a bass amp has extra emphasis on the bass frequencies even when you're playing a guitar through it which =pretty good chance for a blown speaker

3. most guitar cabs will not have the right amount of cubic footage to get good bass response = not the best sound if you are playing a bass through it.

Now pairing a guitar head up with some bass cabs can often lead to some good sounding results.
