I have this crate amp thats 120w and has lots of effect . but i also have a boss distortion pedal. I am thinking about selling the amp and getting a nice tube amp. Is it worth it?

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

I think its a good idea, but you won't get a whole lot of money out of the Crate. Might be better off just saving the money for a tube amp and keeping the Crate. Crates can sound reasonably good if used carefully, and if you want to gig any you may want a backup amp.
