i purchased a digitech GNX4 workstation, and it came with pro tracks, and i have just installed all the goods on my pc. the problem is, me and my friend went to record, and there was a weird sound when we played it back, almost like a drum or static. its only there when the guitars are playing, and its definetly not a drum machine or anything we put there. any help?

Perhaps there is a noise gate that shuts off when the noise begins and the mic is turned up loud so it makes hiss but the way you said it I wouldn't think that's the problem. Maybe your guitars are peaking, try turning the guitars down some maybe.

do i turn the guitar itself down, the volume on the gnx, or the output on the gnx?

I would guess the output on the GNX. If that doesn't help try the volume on the GNX. But before you even try that you may actually want to turn that up and turn down the input on the computer.
