I've been playing a while but I've been untutored and learned everything on my own. Consequently, my style is a little bit too unrefined. I find myself very sloppy with my pick hand and I miss a lot of notes when I'm skipping a string or two. I need more accuracy with my picking hand so what does the almighty UG suggest for practice?

Well what kind of riff (speed and difficulty) do you get sloppy on?

I was in your situation when I first started playing and then I kind of just forgot about it and just played more and more and more practice and stuff and I guess it came naturally. My best advice is to just keep playing a lot and it should just happen.

for example: in cliffs of dover, i have a hard time with this riff

|--3--| |--3--| |--3--| |--3--|
E E E E E E E E E E E E S S S S +E. S
|-------------------:-----------------------------15-(15)-15-:
|-------12-------13-:--------15-------17-------19------------:
|-------------------:----------------------------------------:
|----14-------14----:-----17-------17-------19---------------:
|-10-------12-------:-/14-------15-------17------------------:
|-------------------:----------------------------------------:

it's not out of my skill range just the string skipping messes me up
