Maybe try a hybrid set of 12s high strings / 13s on the low strings? Thinner strings supposedly make it easier..

edit: True, high e pinches suck anyway.

I had this problem cuz the vocalist in my band did a guest solo on our recording and I had to learn it. He's crazy good at pinch harmonics, and he did one on the high e string 16th fret (we tune to d as well)

basically I found that where you so the PH on the string really makes a difference...theres a sweet spot right ext to my neck pup (its only like 1/8 of an inch long) that when I do a pinch harmonic on correctly, wails. So see if this is true for your guitar as well
