ACDC and Van Halen are classical? I really need to get with the times. High Hopes by Pink Floyd has an incredible solo. Well anything by Pink Floyd in general does.

They are not classical music. But from what you are suggesting I would say some Pink Floyd. David Gilmour's solos are really good.

EDIT: Beaten to it

Feast of the savages by firewind, cemetery gates by pantera. And any Iron Maiden, their solos just seem to have more feeling IMO

Hahahaha, avenged sevenfold, yea right. Hendrix's solo at woodstock, classic, the national anthem is good, but the part the follows is really the greatest thing I've ever heard, ever, he plays for like 10 minutes non stop, retunes and everything while he still plays, look up the video, it's the best part.

All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix

Can't believe I didn't think of it before.

And,

Another Rainy Night - Queensryche

I Never Dreamed - Black Label Society

AND +1 to Love Is Only A Feeling.

Edit: And anything by Buckethead, and if you don't mind solo acoustic, then whilst not really a 'solo' Angelina by Tommy Emmanuel.

Who doesn't like The Darkness, and +1 to the Santana stuff. As for Hollow by Pantera, I love the song but the solo isn't didn't do that much for me, a good solo none the less, but not great. It's after the solo that the song gets good. The acoustic part after the solo is insane, and then followed by what Pantera do best.

Heart-Wrenching?

The Sleep by Pantera (from Cowboys From Hell) has an absolutely astounding solo.

Also, like SteveBeginner said, Hollow by Pantera.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

Hm. Nottingham Lace by Buckethead. Try to get the version off of youtube, its amazing. I don't think I've ever heard an improvised solo with more emotion and technicality at the same time.

You mean the one where he's going slightly mad at the start, and a guy yells "thank you for coming"?
#40
on the turning away-Pink Floyd
Black Sabbath-black sabbath
The Pro's and con's of hitchiking-Roger Waters
The dance of eternity-Dream Theater

just what I can think of off the top of my head right now, I'll keep thinking
