mindless entertainment but not bad... but yeah dunno, i'd call it power metal... not really pirate metal lol... though they have a somewhat more unique element to them unlike Amon Amarth -"Viking metal"-.....

ya know these guys and that weird keyboard melody... so on so forth lol

Meh at best, Running Wild put every other ''pirate'' band to complete shame.

Not very long. Previously called Battleheart, under which they released a few demos.

They are seriously the best band I've heard since I first heard Evile last year. When I get a band together there's gonna be some serious thrashy pirate pwnage.

haha. i kinda like it. i think it's great sing-along metal.

True. Most metalheads would disagree, but there needs to be more catchy, heavy, headbangy metal like this. There's too much focus on technical complexisy and speedy riffs; this is what it's really all about

That and ALE!!!

Lots of bands do catchy and headbangable music better then this band.

Týr for one.

I can think of a few yes, but it is generally shunned within the community.

Anyway, I disagree. Tyr doesn't have quite the same feeling to it this does, at all. I'll admit there are a few weak tracks, but the ones that stand out are just pure fun. Tyr has a lot more musicality; as opposed to the sheer fun, pirates, wenches and beer Alestorm bring.

Oh shi-

I forgot about Alestorm. So their album's out now? I'll have to check it out, I've been (not very eagerly) waiting a while to hear that.

I was sent the new Alestorm CD to review and I had never heard of them before, but it made sense they were signed to Napalm Records as they deal exclusively with bands of this type. It turned out to be a great CD, and if you're into bands like Korpiklanni then you could do no wrong. Their bio labels them as "pirate metal" and that seems to fit them well. Songs about wenches, rum, and walking the plank...what can you do?

I got Captain Morgan's Revenge yesterday and holy crap it's awesome! This band is pure win. I love the energy and theme they put out.

EDIT: I think I'll try to tab some of this........as soon as I figure out what tuning they're in.

Go for it that would be awesome. As far as I can tell the song Capt. Morgans Revenge is just in standard, don't know about any of t'others

I'd say they're mostly in drop C. A couple songs are possible in other tunings, but to my ears it sounds right in drop C.

True Scottish Pirate Metal from what I've been told, I am listening to Over the Seas right now for the first time. Its kind of corny really...we met a man with a hook for a hand?
