Thurston Moore, Sonic Youth - Teenage Riot

I'm not gonna name em all but but there's soooooooo many bands that have made me change choonings. Korn and Deftones in my younger years, and Franco Morone and sheer curiosity. I'm currently writing a song where the whole guitar stays in standard except my G is dropped to Gb, simply because i needed a Gb for a chord and i wanted to voice it at the low frets. Experimentation is something tht's always made me screw around with the open strings
#18
I did the open C thing (CGCGCE) from Devin Townsend for a couple of weeks
#19
I don't change tunings much, i used to be in a folk band and i wrote a few songs in open E. got the idea from a black crowes song.

Jack white made me want to mess around with drop A, its really cool.

I tend to play in Standard or Eb tuning, but I play a lot of Alice in Chains so I often go down to "Drop C#". However, the band Soundgarden influenced me to be more open-minded about alternate tunings. There are so many different sounds and chords that you can achieve with experimentation. A favorite of mine is tuning to an open E5 - "E B E E B E". You'd be surprised what you can come up with.

I just keep mine a half step down for two reasons. 1) I like to use huge bends alot and 2) why make it harder to play?
#35
I used to use D standard and Drop C until I got Paul Gilbert's videos. I tuned up to E standard to match him and I don't really change it much. My guitar has a Floyd so it takes me like 10 min. to change tuning and get the bridge level.
