Okay so I want a new amp for getting into some metal and I talked to my brother about it and told him I wanted a Mesa but couldn't afford it. He told me to look into B-52 tube amps as well as the Peavey 5150 and he also mentioned another company that made a copy of the 5150 for like half the price but I forgot what that one was. What I'm wondering is whats the difference between the stealth series B-52's and the AT series. They both have the tri mode rectifier, 3 channels and overall look pretty similar.

I'm using a Yamaha Pacifica but I plan on getting a new guitar after I get the amp. Probably a Schecter. Don't want to spend over $600-$700 on the head. My brother is going to help me build a 212 cab with maybe Celestion V30's so we got the cab covered.

first off your links dont work. and i might be wrong but i believe the stealth were solid state, i know the at is a tube amp.

I think the St is the same minus a bright switch. Also the 5150 knock off is the Bugera which actually sounded good from sound clips I heard.

No...I believe its all tube. It has Class A, Class AB, and SS Settings. I don't really know the difference though.

Please don't tell me I'm the only one that clicked this thread thinking I would learn how to make my guitar sound like a grizzly bear.

bugera makes the copies. the st series has a great gain channel, but the clean channel breaks up insanely early, and sounds nasty compared to the AT series.
