I really want to do a live performance but I have no band, so anything I will do will have to be solo.

There is a contest gong on at my university (winner takes $100) I dont care about the contest I just want to play for people and I was thinking of using a looper and doing some simple harmony stuff.

I haven't signed up yet and don't know if I should, I am hella nervous.

UPDATE:

Here is a solo I am working on please let me know if this is any good:

start the show off with a hendrix style rendition of the national anthem if you're in the US, requires no band.... if not, well, i don't know, just do the harmony stuff

I say do it, you'll get to choose what you play without the suggestions of a band.

start with more poppy music with occasional screams and then work your way into emoish crap like a day to remember and so on.

Either you use a looper to put in a crazy ass solo, or you sing and play a song. But yes do it.

Sovtek MiG 60

i would say your best bet would be to do everything on your acoustic, but to fill out the sound get a m8 who plays drums to accomp you, im sure you know someone who plays drums, even if they in one of the otehr bands just say " would u mind, im not doing it competivly, so you dont have to worry" and maybe do the same for a bassest, or just get a m8 who playes guitar to do it as well just as a favour, who know syou could end up being a proper band!

Play Europa by Santana!

Or maybe something you can sing along to? Like Broken by Seether!

Eruption!!!
The Mitch Clem formula
1)make jokes about rancid and NOFX (as if they dont already make fun of themselves)
2)make obvious punk puns, possibly related to food
3)make fun of Rancid and NOFX again
4)??????
5)PROFIT (and an army of internet fanboys)

I know the leader of The Sword got started this way, so why not? It might look a little lame with the stage being so empty, but the majority of people won't care. Go and rock out. Good luck!

I think that's a great idea. With a looper you could create relatively big and cool sounds, even make it sound like a full band if you're experienced. I say go for it, and good luck.
