George RR Martin, and his Song of Ice and Fire series.

I don't read much fantasy, but they've great character development, plot lines and are just in general awesome.
The will to neither strive nor cry,
The power to feel with others give.
Calm, calm me more; nor let me die
Before I have begun to live.

i'm currently reading the Horus Heresy series, by a bunch of different writers.
the Ultramarine Omnibus by Graham McNeill was also pretty cool.
I did enloy the Dark Materials triology, and also the Abhorsen triology.

As far as I'm concerned, Lord Of The Rings is the ONLY fantasy book. It invented everything about modern fantasy; and is still better than everything else. Nothing feeds my inner nerd more than LOTR.

Besides that, RPGs are better for getting a fix of fantasy.

I'm a nerd for R.A. Salvatore, too.

Stephen King's It.

My favourite book ever.

Does it count? Because it is fantasy in the sense that it would never be possible in real life...

So I, with a broomstick(Just in case) walk right where they can see me and I said:

"You kids ever taken a broom up the ass?"

The look on their face was priceless, and they ran, and I mean ran like a bat out of hell.

In my experience, the only good fantasy writers with originality of any supstantial kind are Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and George MacDonald.
The medium is the message!

Why does everyone love Tolkien so much? D:
He had a damn fine imagination, but his writing is so prolix I struggle to get through a page. I'm not really a fan of descriptive texts.

I didn't find it descriptive enough haha

I didn't like his writing, it was really dry and boring to me.
My God, it's full of stars!

You are a winner. I recommend this series to any fan of fantasy writing. Possibly my favorite author.
