Hey Pit,
For a psychology class, I have to poll atleast 100 people online, and document the results.
My topic, is how do people in other countries pronounce the word Orange?
Do you pronounce it "oar-ange" or "arr-ange"?
The rest is in the poll.
For those who thinks this is stupid, this is what I was assigned.
And also (in the USA) I was in a van with a bunch of people, and they were ordering drinks from a burger king. They were asking for "arr-ange" drinks. I was like "WTF?".
So, even though I was assigned it, I'm curious to know too.

EDIT: Also, for those who are wondering why canadians are included with europeans, don't ask me. I didn't make the rules for this assignment. I have strange teachers. And I was assigned to have canadians and europeans polled together.
Once again, not my idea.
Call me Wes.

"oh-ringe"
But the 'oh' is very short.
The will to neither strive nor cry,
The power to feel with others give.
Calm, calm me more; nor let me die
Before I have begun to live.

-Matthew Arnold

Arguments are to be avoided; they are always vulgar and often convincing.

you do realize UG is probably not the best place to obtain accurate results, especially with a poll... usually the answer that is the dumbest sounding gets a resounding number of votes

Oar-ange.

anyone who says ARRange is a f*cking idiot.

Or has a different accent from you...?

I don't pronounce it either of those ways, it's sort of like "or-inge" chose "arr-range" because I figured it seemed closer, but it isn't really...

Yup, and there's a fair few retarded accents in England too, although I can't actually recall hearing any of them say orange...

Well I think people from the DC area say arrange, and we all know they are f*cking retarded.

You do realize arr-ange is practically arrange.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools

Arr-ange? Oar-ange? Who? What?

AW-range is the way the vast majority of the world would pronounce it.
#35
I don't really pronounce the 2nd vowel sound...it's just like ornj.

Ye scurvy sea bass! Hoist the sails, scrub the decks and peel them arr-anges!
Dear God, do you actually answer prayers?

Yes, but only in a way indistinguishable from random luck or the result of your own efforts.
