...say "could care less" instead of "couldn't care less"?

Saying "could care less" implies that you care a little, whereas saying you "couldn't care less" means that you totally do not care at all. Just wanting someone to clarify this for me.

Some people on here actually type the phrase "I could care less about..."

(I now say couldn't)

So when people type "could care less" they really typed "couldn't care less" but it was too fast for their keyboards?

I prefer "couldn't care less" because it's... not retarded.

1) American isn't a race
2) I've never heard or saw anyone but an American make that error.

im an american and it pisses me off too. i say it the right way.

it also pisses me off how people use the phrase "all but _____" like if a building is demolished, people say "it was all but destroyed." that doesnt make sense cuz "destroyed" is exactly what happened to it.

EDIT: f*ck drakenshadow beat me to it.

Why do brits say it too? Because they're stupid. The individuals, not the collective. Some people just don't think about what they're saying, regardless of where they come from.

Stop bashing Americans. God why do you care if someone makes a grammatical error? It's no sweat off your balls.

American is a nationality.

Examples of races would be Caucasian, black, etc...

If you bothered to read the thread title, I said some Americans. You're just mad because you do it yourself. And I care because it annoys me and it is such a stupidly obvious mistake.

Exactly why I said "could"

and I'm a Mexican-American myself

IU just so happens taht since 60% of American popualtion is of European origin, the average AMerican coudl be caucasian

Yes, but I did not say "Why does the TS waste so much time on typing this thread?" I'm talking about you having so much time to let you mind wander that far and to think it through. It's not so much the time for this specific thought to occur to you, it's the lack of worthwhile things that you could be doing instead on burning up brain cells to dissect an expression to prove that three characters added to one word could possibly convey a slightly deeper meaning, this said expression when used in daily casual conversation would still get the point across with or without the extra " n't "

Ermm... No.

"All but dead", implies the cat's been badly beaten or hurt, but hasn't quite died. Similarly "the fortress is all but destroyed" means that the fortress is f*cked and that it's about to crumble, but it's not quite destroyed.

No, it's a very obvious mistake, I did not spend a lot of time thinking it through. And it does not get the same point across, basically using this phrase is saying the exact opposite of what you mean to say.

...It doesn't to me weather or not he cares about it... But I still think that he could do something much more productive than complain about a grammatical error, which could benefit him much more.

Admittedly, I could do something else besides criticize him. *shrug*
